Again Wednesday seems to have given me the bum's rush; it's here already. The good news is that it's time to yarn along with Ginny over at small things.
So I have been agonizing unnecessarily over knitting a toy animal for Eden. She'll be three on Friday! Where has the time gone? Well, that's a subject for another post. Back to the knitted toy. I decided to make a dolphin because it looked easy. But lo and behold I found an even easier project, at least so far. It's a penguin that I found in Itty Bitty Toys. Eden really enjoys Pingu so I think a knitted penguin will be well received. There are many other gorgeous and intriguing projects in this book. If the penguin is even moderately successful, I will be making more projects. The author's patterns are easy to read and follow which is always a plus.
The penguin knitting has been fine. The only hiccup is Missy decided to rip out a slew of rows. She never touches my knitting. I don't know what came over her. Anyway, by some miracle I fixed it. Now the white part of the body is complete. Onto the back and wing sections, which will be knitted in black. I think my knitting skills may have been helped by music; this project just seems to flow (I listed some of what we are listening to in the sidebar).
As for books I am continuing with Just One Thing. This week I am working on relaxing. This article appeared just in time for this week's intention. It definitely feels like a luxury (and almost wrong) to take moments to intentionally concentrate on my needs.
Of course I'm "reading" Itty Bitty Toys. Eden and I have been enjoying The Shy Little Kitten and Scuffy. The older kids and I are reading The Boy Who Painted Dragons. This book is gorgeous and the author does a tremendous job addressing fear and who you are. One of the most beautiful parts of the book is when the Heavenly Dragon gives the boy three treasures: three glowing pearls carved with the words "Seek Your Truth, Find Your Truth, and Dare to be True". To round off the group we have started the book, Heart and Soul: The Story of America and African Americans, another gorgeously illustrated work. The illustrations look like masterpieces in oil. I'll probably have to do a separate post on this book as the contents are so rich.
So I am eager to see what you have been up to this past week . . . .
